New Mobile Handsets Before Commercial Launch

Automated Call Performance Solution Enables Manufacturers and Wireless Service Providers to Cut Testing Costs by 75 Percent


FREDERICK, MD – April 1, 2009 – Metrico Wireless Inc., a leading provider of performance measurement solutions for the wireless industry, today introduced Nomad, an automated call performance solution that cost-effectively and efficiently field tests new mobile handsets before they are commercially launched. Metrico’s Nomad is an innovative solution that can place and answer calls automatically from handsets and offers accurate measurements of call and network access success rates. The objective performance results enable service providers, manufacturers and chipset suppliers to improve customer satisfaction and reduce costs by ensuring that the products work properly prior to widespread consumer launches.

Historically, handset field tests have been conducted by teams of engineers who spend countless hours manually dialing and redialing. However, these tests are costly, time consuming and unreliable. More importantly, the results are often not statistically valid because that would require placing thousands of calls – a process that is not practical unless there is an automated system.

Nomad solves this problem by automating the process of testing and analyzing call performance, potentially reducing field testing costs by upwards of 75 percent. Nomad works in conjunction with a Metrico call server that answers all mobile originated and mobile terminated calls to the device, which then automatically produces a summary report detailing the call completion rate.

Nomad can test any Bluetooth-enabled device on any carrier’s network. Testing can be done in a lab or in the field, including areas on the edge of a network or where devices may have to switch between 2G and 3G networks.
