Metrico’s Nomad 2.0 Enables Faster, More Cost-Effective Evaluation of Subscribers’ Actual Mobile Experience

FREDERICK, MD – May 11, 2010 – Metrico Wireless Inc., a leading provider of performance evaluation solutions for mobile devices, today unveiled Nomad 2.0, the first product to support the simultaneous evaluation of both call performance and voice quality on any mobile device, independent of technology. Nomad 2.0 enables mobile device manufacturers, mobile operators and component manufacturers to reduce the time it takes to measure the performance of mobile devices prior to commercial launch by as much as 50 percent.

Nomad 2.0’s unique design interfaces with any mobile smartphone or feature phone using Bluetooth technology or a wired connection to generate thousands of calls automatically – while also measuring the effect of incoming emails. During these calls, Nomad 2.0 can be used to capture a wide range of performance issues, ranging from dropped calls and failed calls to the perceived voice quality for both the calling and receiving parties.

Designed to support both lab and field-based evaluations, Nomad 2.0 also reduces the high labor costs and long hours traditionally associated with performance testing, as it eliminates the need for technicians to manually dial hundreds, or even thousands, of calls to evaluate call performance.

In addition, Metrico’s Nomad 2.0 solution eliminates the need for wireless manufacturers and operators to purchase and maintain costly back-end server equipment. Instead, Nomad 2.0 conducts its evaluations by communicating with a server that is managed and operated by Metrico, thus reducing the hardware and maintenance costs normally associated with device performance evaluation.

“Unlike other tools focused on low level engineering details of network and device performance, Nomad 2.0 – like all of Metrico’s device evaluation products – measures the end user experience. We help device manufacturers and network carriers anticipate how a new device will affect their overall customer satisfaction and, inevitably, their bottom line,” said Metrico Vice President Jeff Horner. “Nomad 2.0 is revolutionizing the way OEMs and operators measure their customers’ mobile experience by allowing faster, more cost-effective and more comprehensive evaluation of mobile devices.”

With Nomad 2.0, Metrico brings together two of its leading voice evaluation products into one, innovative solution. Nomad 2.0 combines the state-of-the-art audio quality evaluation capabilities provided by Metrico’s Muse product line with Nomad’s automated call performance evaluation capabilities to create the most complete call and audio performance evaluation product on the market today.

Nomad 2.0 can be used in conjunction with Metrico’s Datum product line to provide a complete evaluation of data in addition to voice performance of mobile devices being built and readied for launch in the commercial market – as well as those already on the market.

“With so much of the focus today on mobile data, we tend to forget that consumers still care deeply about voice quality and call performance issues - such as whether their call is dropped in the middle of a conversation,” says Alex Spektor of research firm Strategy Analytics. “Having an efficient, cost-effective way of evaluating key audio and call performance metrics - those that truly measure the end user experience - can help mobile industry players not only save money but also acquire and retain more satisfied customers.”

Nomad 2.0 is commercially available today. A Web demo may be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Notd6jq8rbA.
