Lab-Based and Field-Based Performance Testing Services and Information
Field Test Services
Metrico Wireless provides wireless handset field performance measurement products and services. Our approach is to measure
a handset’s quality in a live network setting and in a manner that captures the consumer perspective. Our innovative
test procedures measure the following performance metrics:
- Listening Quality
- Radio-Audio Response
- Call Retention
- Call Establishment
- Packet Data Throughput
Instead of relying on anecdotal or subjective performance information from a variety of internal evaluators, wireless carriers are now able to view objective and reliable performance metrics. Metrico Wireless utilizes test applications and processes that are technology and handset agnostic. We can collect audio quality data and packet-data throughput performance from any handset.

Metrico Wireless has innovated new lab-based testing services that integrate the latest air-interface simulation equipment with our industry-leading speech quality measurement tool – Metrico Wireless Muse™. Our lab tests support GSM, CDMA and UMTS.
Acoustic Speech Quality Test – Utilizing an ITU-T P.57 HATS, speech quality is measured for various codec's and access
technologies including AMR FR and HR.
Speech Quality in Degraded Channel – Utilizing fading simulation techniques and interference injection, speech quality is measured across varying signal-to-noise environments. This test is ideal for measuring performance enhancements achieved through the latest interference cancellation techniques.
Speech Quality in Noise Conditions – Utilizing a live listening panel (ITU-T P.835) and techniques provided by ETSI for measurement of speech quality in background noise environments, Metrico Wireless has developed a unique capability for testing a device's ability to isolate or cancel noise. This test is ideal for measuring performance enhancements achieved through noise cancellation techniques. Additionally, this test is well suited for testing of accessories including Bluetooth.
